Ben Between Africa

Ben Between Africa is a personal and historical feature length documentary about Ben Gamber, the oldest son of Mennonite Missionaries who grew up in Ethiopia during the politically transformative era of the 1960s and 70s.

In 1975 at 25 years old, Ben would die under mysterious circumstances. Grief stricken, his parents would return to America and pack all memories of him away in an attic.

This film is about what was found in those boxes.

The Latest

Friends! The film is done!  It's been an amazing adventure that has required creativity and growth to find our way through it.

I am currently working on a festival and distribution strategy and hope the film will premier in festivals this fall. I am also planning to host private screenings in Oakland, CA andHarrisonburg, VA. These screenings will be fundraisers to help support film festival submissions and travel. If you have any suggestions for community screenings I'd love to hear them.
